The Dawood Batcha Educational and Charitable Trust was founded in 1997 with the sole aim of providing education to the underprivileged in rural areas. Focusing particularly on promoting higher education for girls, the trust has opened several educational institutions since its inception.
Initiatives for the Future
The initiatives we have outlined to accomplish this are written below.
Introduction of new courses
Faculty development
Expansion plans
Introduction of new courses
Our next goal is to open the RDB College of Allied Health Sciences.
In terms of expanding the trust, our next aim is to open the RDB College of Allied Health Sciences. Traditionally the courses we plan to provide are mainly offered in institutions in cities, our initiative is to open these courses in a rural environment aiming to bridge the gap in healthcare provisions between the urban and rural communities. This will also help the local students to acquire readily employable skills.
For the next academic year 2021, we are on track to open a nursing college.
By 2025, we plan to offer four new courses:
BSc Cardiac technology
Dialysis technology
Accident and Emergency Care technology
Operation theatre and Anaesthesia technology
These courses would benefit at least an additional 200 students per academic year.
These courses will require facilities, such as training rooms and labs.
Faculty Development
Traditionally, in the Indian academic system, the curriculum is set by the Government. The quality of the education received by the students depends on the available facilities in the institution and the skill set of the staff delivering the lessons. At our trust, we strive hard to build world class infrastructure (smart classrooms were introduced in 2012) and also to train the faculties with the essential skills to inspire students to develop a passion for learning. We do this by offering structured training programs run by experts to all teachers.
We take professional development of our teachers and other staff very seriously as they have a big impact on the students’ learning habits, results and ultimately their future.
To deliver this successfully, we aim to:
Expand the faculty and up-skill them by offering more development courses and giving them access to the best trainers available.
In order to employ a high quality faculty, we need to
Provide them a benefit package similar to those offered by the city institutions. As a not-for-profit charity, we do not charge these costs to our students and to maintain this vision we need economic support from you.
Expansion plans
At our institution, we need facilities that will provide a stimulating environment for the students.
We plan to:
Modernize existing facilities, such as IT equipment and classroom furniture.
We plan to make our institution a green environment and so for all the future buildings, we propose to have a green solution by operating it with renewable energy sources and energy-saving options..
Install the existing buildings with solar panels and employ active and passive methodologies to make for a more sustainable environment.
The implementation of the new courses will require additional facilities, such as training rooms and labs.
The college is run in every aspect with a singular aim of ‘providing quality education for the rural people’ who are still far apart and unable to compete with their urban counterparts. The Dawood Batcha Educational and Charitable Trust aims to bridge the economic, education and gender gap between the rural and urban communities. In order to continue this journey, we invite people like you with a progressive mindset to be a part of this social revolution.
